Organization Design expert

(Fulltime/ Part-time, 32-38 hours per week)

Action keeps on growing; we're active in 12 countries already and have plans for further growth. Would you like to help us ensure that Action’s organisation stays simple, efficient and scalable? We are looking for an Organisation Design (OD) expert to join our Organisation Development team. You will play a crucial role in optimising our organisational structure, from our International Headquarters (IHQ) to our country offices. You will provide guidance and support in applying organisation design principles and identifying improvement opportunities. Your work will make a difference in contributing to Action’s future success.

This is your daily action

As an OD expert, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining OD protocols for both IHQ and the country offices. Examples include protocols on when to outsource or automate Action's activities, or on the number of management layers and the span of control. You will ensure proper documentation of these protocols in the “Overhead OD
Handbook” and other tools and monitor their consistent application. You will also handle the dissemination of organisation design knowledge and best practices to stakeholders.

Additionally, you will provide guidance and set overhead OD targets for IHQ departments and countries and monitor target performance. You will monitor OD KPIs in order to proactively make suggestions for a more optimal organisational structure and assist in their implementation.

You will maintain an overview of all requests and initiatives for organisational optimisation in collaboration with HR Business Partners. You will act as a sparring partner for managers of IHQ departments, Country HR Managers and HR Business Partners. You will also identify and resolve role inconsistencies or duplicates together with the relevant departments, countries and the Compensation & Benefits team.

Meet your team

Our IHQ HR department concerns itself with several areas of expertise (Organisation Development, Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits, Talent Development, HR Projects, Legal). Organisation Development is a new team, giving you the opportunity to contribute and drive its value to and development for the whole company.

Curious about your new colleagues? Joost and Robert  are happy to work with you!

This is you

You are an experienced professional with a thorough understanding of organisational design and change projects. You combine strong analytical skills with strategic thinking and a proactive, hands-on mentality. With your ability to build strong relationships and a customer-focused mindset, you will contribute to the success of our organisation while remaining flexible in dealing with changing priorities.

You also have:

  • At least 5 years' work experience in a similar role
  • Experience with Organisation Design/operating model
  • Attention to detail and an affinity for figures and Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written

Today we have more than 2,500 stores in 12 countries and millions of smiles from our customers. And we have big growth ambitions. For Action and you. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different job, an interesting innovation project, and new skills: as a professional, you can develop without limits. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost consciousness, and respect.

Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • 24 vacation days, with the option to purchase 5 extra days based on a 38-hour work week
  • An annual bonus between 10 and 20% based on company and personal performance
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work 40% of your working hours from home (in coordination with your team and manager)
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is reachable from Amsterdam by car in just 30 minutes on uncongested roads or through public transport, using the shuttle bus from Hoorn train station)

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a new world will open up for you when you join us. As an example, we're working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you also know that we sponsor more than 2,500 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children's Village? Or that our team reflects the diversity of our customers, representing 124 nationalities? Or that more than 92% of our wood products and 100% of our cotton comes from sustainable sources? Or that we only use energy-efficient LED lighting in more than half of our stores? Yes, that's Action, too. If you're curious about what other initiatives we're taking, join our team and see for yourself.
