“As Commercial Analyst you are one of the key supporting members of the Buying and Merchandising organization reporting to the Manager Analytics. You will analyze the large amount of data to tackle Action’s commercial challenges to optimize the assortment and sales. Your analysis will therefore be a direct contribution to the growth of Action.”

WHAT ARE THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Commercial Analyst you are part of the Commercial Development department and will report to the Manager Analytics. You are operating in the heart of Action’s commercial organization, and you are supporting the Buying & Merchandising organization with standard and ad-hoc analysis.

You are regularly screening (parts of) the assortment together with buyers on all important KPIs like sales and profitability. Next to highlighting the good performing categories, your job is to spot deviating trends in the data and come up with concrete reasons and possible solutions.

Next to that, a large number of reports and analyses needs to be standardized into dashboards. Development (in close cooperation with IT) of the dashboards that support the commercial processes will be part of your daily job. Customer orientation and simplicity are very important to offer the best information dashboard for particular processes.

Additional to above mentioned activities, the week will be full of ad-hoc analysis. You can think of: participating in many projects within Action whereby you are the specialist on data and information within the project team, analyzing assortment pilots, and many other questions whereby data analysis is a key element.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD COMMERCIAL DATA ANALYST AT ACTION

The Commercial Analyst at Action enjoys analyzing commercial challenges and transform available data into information to tackle the challenge with the least possible complexity. You demonstrate a high level of pragmatism and are very organized, are able to structure activities and projects and sticks to agreements within deadlines and according to guidelines. You work efficiently and effectively, also under time pressure. You cooperate with others to achieve common targets and constructively challenges others to optimize performance and capitalize on opportunities.

Necessary hard skills

  • Educated to Master level (Business Analytics, Econometrics, Business Mathematics)
  • Min. 1 year experience within analytical role (preferably commercial/retail)
  • Experience with combination of Commerce, Business Analytics, and IT
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Excellent with MS Office (Excel), experience with Qlikview or other BI-tools
  • Preferably computer programming experience
