The Team Specialist is part of the DC Set-up team in our Supply Chain department. This project team is responsible for the start-up of a new DC from the point of opening up until the moment that proper quality of receipt and delivery can be guaranteed. When you’re not training employees or implementing a new warehouse, you will be based in Zwaagdijk.

Responsibilities

Planning

As a Set-up Team Specialist it is your duty to provide input for a project plan in the early stages of opening a DC. This project plan will include the most important milestones put together in a detailed plan with corresponding deadlines, identifying the accountable person for each step. Not only will you understand and execute the process, you will also describe these in reports and work orders.

 

Reporting

Additionally it is important for the Specialist to maintain a complete overview of purchasing and all necessary tools like trucks or rolling containers, so that this overview can be used again when starting up another new DC. You will follow-up on orders of resources, realizing the availability of such resources before opening the DC, as well as testing and ensuring that these resources function as they should within a timely manner.

 

Transferring knowledge

The transfer of knowledge and know-how to new employees is also a key activity. It is important that the departments of the new DC are aware of the right work methods, system usage and generally required information. Not only will you relay the Action formula, values and culture to employees, but you will also coach the management where needed so as to improve ramp-up of a new warehouse.

 

Communication
Also, you are a contact point for questions and issues. It is your responsibility to solve or provide answers for issues whenever you can, as well as guiding and advising departments for important processes like recruitment. Ideally, you would signal and solve any upcoming problems in a timely manner before they occur. As a contact point it is also important to communicate relevant information to stakeholders, for instance by doing inventory, tracking data and relevant key figures and analyzing this data.

Who are you?

You have extensive insight into logistical processes as well as processes in a DC, combined with experience working in an international environment at a multinational. You are aware of the important of cost control and you always keep this in mind during daily operations. You are able to work independently or together with others, so as to provide high quality services to customers according to deadlines and guidelines. Your approach to things is pragmatic and result-oriented, without getting distracted by other issues. As a good trainer of employees you possess natural leadership skills and you are well able to monitor the progress of processes and employees, with a flexible yet pro-active attitude. Strong planning and organizing capabilities are definitely within your wheelbarrow.

 

Furthermore you have:

  • Bachelor degree
  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in management position in a logistics environment
  • Excellent command of English   (German/French would be a pre)
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP, (E)WM and Microsoft Office
